33 Apocalypse Ave, One last Friday

Eliot stood in the kitchen window, watching the marshmallow snow and not drinking his coffee.

He should be exhausted. Metaphysically sore from spending the day before shielding a bunch of bulletproof maniacs from taking too many bullets while other maniacs tried to figure out how the bit of polar island attached to theirs like a male anglerfish was powering a time loop.

But he felt the same as he had all three of the previous Fridays. Only his existential exhaustion had increased.

The oven timer dinged. Eliot ignored it.

Maybe he'd spend this particular Friday getting absolutely smashed out of his mind.

No one was yelling, so Margo stayed upstairs for a while, combing her hair and getting it into a neat little bun, and . . .

“Eliot? Do I smell something burning down there?”

"Just your leftovr-pizza-for-breakfast, Bambi," Eliot called back. "You really should keep a better eye on things you put in the oven."

“Oh fuck!” Margo bellowed, racing down the stairs. “Why didn’t you tell me?!”

"I am not your pizza's keeper," Eliot said. "Anyway, I told you the last three times. It's not my fault you can't remember."

“What are you talking about.”

That would’ve come with a death glare, but Margo was a little busy ripping open the oven and flailing to get her pizza out.

"We're in a time loop," Eliot said. "And while you remain blissfully unaware, I unfortunately am not. This is my . . . fourth morning admiring the classiness of your leftover pizza. And yes, I know. My leftovers are in the fridge."

“Jesus fucking mozzarella-torching christ,” Margo said, tossing the burnt pizza into the sink. “Is it a fucking Chatwin?”

"Doesn't seem like it. Some experiment in horology by folks living on a polar island that's decided to glue itself to Fandom's ass." He shrugged. "We investigated it yesterday. They're extremely fond of guns."

“Of course,” Margo said. She crossed her arms. “Of course this place gets royally time-fucked and I’m not awake to do shit about it.”

"If it helps, I'm not sure any of us who are awake can do much about it, either. I'm the one who had to tell several people we were in a time loop to begin with. They were just running around, confused."

To be fair, he did have an advantage over most Fandomites, having done this sort of thing before.
